The Central Nationality University was founded in Yan'an in September 1941 as the "Nationality University" (民族 学院) for the training of cadres of the ethnic minorities of China and of Han-Chinese cadres specializing in nationality matters . Its founding rector was the Mongolian Ulanhu . Today the ZNU has its headquarters in the Zizhuyuan street district ( Haidian district ) of the capital Beijing , where it reopened on June 11, 1952 .
