Funding license

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In sport, a sponsorship license (in basketball : double license ) is a so-called right to two games , often also called the right to play two games . The sponsorship license allows young players up to the age of 23 (in ice hockey in the DEL up to the age of 25) to play in the same season for two (in ice hockey also up to 3) teams from different leagues and to switch flexibly. Funding licenses are granted in basketball, handball and ice hockey in order to bind the youngsters to the higher leagues and to support the athletic training of young players. Similar procedures are also common in US sport , so that young players are eligible to play in a major league team and a partner team in a minor league .

basketball

The special right to participate , commonly referred to as a double license or STB, must be granted by applying to the responsible regional association of the DBB . It is widespread and has basically existed since the 1990s, when the first division team and then serial champion Alba Berlin successfully cooperated with the second division club TuS Lichterfelde and "parked" its talented young players there. The license can be applied for for a player up to the age of 23; The only restriction is that the senior player may only play two games over the weekend. Furthermore, the player may not be used for different teams in the same division and a change of the second team within a season is not possible; In addition, players with a valid license to play in a nationwide junior league are not allowed to play in a lower-class junior league.

The clubs themselves cooperate with one another in a variety of models. In the youth sector of the NBBL or WNBL and JBBL example, there are also teams that jointly by educational institutions such as the Urspringschule and the Association Ehingen TSG are operated, the first men's team plays in the second division for several years. In some cases, regional institutions such as the former Franken 1st GmbH or the Stuttgart Basketball Academy form a roof under which the young players have a wide range of uses according to their capabilities. Almost every German club team in the top three men's divisions has a cooperation team in the NBBL as well as in a lower class league, with which young players can be exchanged by using the double license.

ice Hockey

In ice hockey, teams in the DEL (1st division) and teams in the DEL II (2nd division) may give a player a sponsorship license from the 2006/07 season , whereby a player can only have one sponsorship license at a time. Since 2013/14, teams from the upper league are also allowed to equip players from teams in the DNL or DNL2 with a double license if the home club of the DNL / DNL2 team does not participate in the upper league. The possible uses of players in the lower game classes are regulated according to the regulations in force there and are therefore not uniform:

  • In the Oberliga (3rd division), the holders of multiple game permits must have played at least 10 games for the team by the end of the preliminary round. At the same time, there is an additional restriction for DEL and DELII support license holders for players who (2016/17) were born after January 1, 1993 (U23 rule).
  • In the field of DEL II (2nd division), the holders of parallel game permits for the DEL and DEL II must have participated in at least 20 games for the team by the end of the preliminary round. Players for whom such a game permit was applied for (2016/17) were previously allowed to have played fewer than 120 championship games in the DEL.
  • In the area of the state associations, for example, in the area of the Bavarian Ice Sports Association (4th to 6th division), DEL funding license holders can only be used in the parent clubs of a DEL team - which is only possible in Ingolstadt , Nuremberg , Augsburg and Straubing for senior and junior teams is. For the other DEL participant from Munich , DEL funding license holders can only be used in the junior teams.

Deadline

For the 2016/17 season, a player with the right to play for a selection of the DEB

  • with a date of birth January 1, 1992 and later a DEL support license
  • with date of birth January 1, 1991 (goalkeeper) or January 1, 1993 (field player) and younger, a 2nd Bundesliga promotion license
  • with a birth date January 1, 1993 and younger a senior league development license

can get.

Handball

Dominik Klein had a funding license
Christian Zeitz also had a production license

The paragraphs 69 and 70 of the Competition Rules (SpO) of the DHB lending or double game right rules in teams of the first and the second Bundesliga and the third division.
A club from the 1st Bundesliga, the 2nd Bundesliga and the third division (first club) may allow a player with a contractual relationship to another club (second club) to play in the Bundesliga , second Bundesliga or third division - but not in the same season - borrow on the condition that the player has not yet reached the age of 23 on the day of the loan notification to the responsible league association.
If a player is suspended, it applies to both clubs (Section 70 (3) of the SpO).

The aim of the sponsorship license is to integrate young German players in the national leagues. On the one hand, the young players should train in the professional structures of the Bundesliga clubs, but on the other hand they should also get enough match practice. The latter is often only possible in lower leagues. That is why the right to two games is generally seen as a sensible change in the rules, with which talents can be integrated into Bundesliga clubs at an early stage without being left to waste for years.
