Medical and health science service

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Germany, the medical and health science service refers to a group of careers for civil servants who require related training . The range of tasks primarily includes official business that requires a medical or health science degree or appropriate professional training .

General

A career includes all offices that require related and equivalent qualifications and training ( Section 16 (1) BBG ). In the federal government , careers in the medical and health science service can in principle be set up in all four career groups ( Section 6 (2 ) FSVO ). In fact, there are only two careers:

  • superior medical and health science service
  • higher medical and health science service

Civil servants of the medical and health science service are deployed, for example, for military medical fitness examinations in a career center of the Bundeswehr , at the assessment center for executives of the Bundeswehr and in the medical service of the Federal Police . They were also known as screening doctors in the former district recruiting offices operate.

Official titles

Persons in the higher medical and health science service with medical studies have the official titles :

  • Senior Medical Councilor in the Federal Police (A 14),
  • Medical Director or Medical Director in the Federal Police (A 15),

The career qualification for a career in the medical and health science service is usually obtained through recognition. No subject-specific preparatory services (career training) have been set up at the federal level ( Annex 2 FSVO ).

In order to recognize the career qualification for a career in the medical and health science service, a corresponding subject group 05 "Human Medicine / Health Sciences" according to the university statistics of the Federal Statistical Office or a corresponding professional training is required. These include the subjects of human medicine , dentistry , health education and health sciences as well as advanced training in anesthesia , ophthalmology , bacteriology , surgery , gynecology , internal medicine , cardiology , orthodontics , paediatrics , music therapy , nuclear medicine , orthopedics , physiotherapy , psychiatry , radiology , social medicine and urology . For admission to the higher medical and health science service, a bachelor's degree or an equivalent degree acquired at a university, in connection with a doctorate or full-time employment of at least two years and six months, can be taken into account instead of a master's degree acquired at a university . In the case of admission on the basis of the qualification bachelor and several years of professional experience, proof of a full-time activity of five years is required. The full-time job must correspond to the specialty and difficulty of a civil servant's career in the higher medical and health science service ( Section 23 (4 ) FSVO ).

With the entry into force of the new Federal Career Path Ordinance (FSVO) in 2009, careers with a special subject will expire at the federal level. The careers of the higher medical and higher dental service were transferred to the careers of the higher medical and health science service ( Annex 4 FSVO ).

The number of careers that previously existed at federal level was reduced by the new Federal Careers Ordinance from 2009 from around 125 to a maximum of eight careers per career group (maximum 32). In addition to the medical and health science service, the following career paths can be set up in the federal government ( Section 6 (2 ) FSVO ):
