Poker Nations Cup
The Poker Nations Cup was an international poker tournament that was played once a year in Cardiff from 2006 to 2008 .
Game system
At the tournament in the variant No Limit Texas Hold'em six nations took part with six players. One player acted as captain in each team, and each team had an online qualifier . The respective team captain determined the order of which players of his team took part in which of the six preliminary round matches. Depending on how a player performed at a preliminary round table, points were credited to their own team, with the rating varying from year to year. The total number of points achieved by a team in the preliminary round ultimately determined the number of chips in the Grand Final , the final round to determine the tournament winner.
The team captains named three players who eventually competed in the final round; substitutions had to be made by the end of the third and sixth blind level. In addition, the team captains were allowed to call a one-off 60-second time-out for consultation with the team member currently playing at the table. The levels in the Grand Final were twice as long as in the preliminary round. The winning team of the final round received a total of 100,000 US dollars .
