AMD Athlon
Athlon is a registered trademark of the microprocessor manufacturer AMD . AMD introduced the name in 1999 and sold a processor family under this name until 2002. Because of the success of this processor family, AMD repeatedly chose product names based on the brand name Athlon for processors in the desktop segment. In 2007 it was announced that AMD will use the brand name Phenom for the processors of the K10 generation in the future . The name Athlon is still available for processors in the lower price segment.
