Under the brand name AMD Athlon II marketed AMD multi-core processors for notebooks . There are also Athlon II processors for desktop systems. In the course of the presentation of the Turion II processors , the Athlon II processors were introduced for the low-end segment.

technology

Just like the Athlon II for desktop systems and the Turion II, the Athlon II for notebooks is based on the K10 architecture . However, the FPU was cut to only 64 bits, while the Turion II processors are delivered with a full, 128-bit wide FPU. While the first models (code letter "M") were still limited to DDR2 memory, newer versions came in May 2010 that can be operated with DDR3, denoted by the code letters "P" and "N".

Another offshoot of the Athlon II is the Athlon II Neo , which has a power consumption of only 12 W. In addition to a 1.3 GHz dual core (K325), you can also find the only single core with 1.7 GHz offered by AMD under the name “Athlon II” (K125). In addition, with the V series , AMD offers two more single-core processors based on the Athlon II. On the one hand the V105, which is preferred for use in netbooks with a power consumption of only 9 W and a clock frequency of 1.2 GHz, and on the other hand the V120 with a power consumption of 25 W and a clock frequency of 2.2 GHz. Unlike the older Neo models, the Athlon II Neo and the V series processors also have the normal S1 socket.
