The AMD Turion X2 is a processor that was presented by AMD in 2008 together with the “ Puma ” notebook platform . The predecessor is the AMD Turion 64 X2 . Within the Puma platform, the Turion X2 is a mainstream processor, the Turion X2 Ultra serves the performance segment.

The successor to the Turion X2 / Turion X2 Ultra processors is based entirely on the K10 architecture and is marketed under the name AMD Turion II .

technology

The technology of the Turion X2 is largely based on that of the older Turion 64 X2 ( AMD K8 ). However, some of the capabilities of the new AMD K10 architecture have been adopted, such as the faster HT-Link. In addition, the power-saving technologies were expanded and optimized. The official code name for this mobile processor core family from AMD is AMD Family 11h Processor , or unofficially AMD K 11 and is only available in the mobile segment. Another offshoot is the mobile AMD Athlon X2 .

There is also the Turion Neo X2 L625 , which has a power consumption of 18 W and a clock frequency of 1.6 GHz. However, this processor is based on the well-known K9 architecture and is therefore only an economical offshoot of the AMD Turion 64 X2 . A special socket called "ASB1" is used for the processor, on which the CPU is soldered.
