Career

Mair was active from 1995 to 1999 for the Owen Sound Platers in the Ontario Hockey League , having previously played in the OJHL-B in Ohsweken . In the 1997 NHL Entry Draft , he was selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the fourth round in 84th place.

In the Stanley Cup playoffs 1999 he was appointed as an OHL player for five games in the squad of the Maple Leafs and also completed three playoff games in the American Hockey League with the St. John's Maple Leafs . Mair spent most of the following season in St. John's and was used eight times in the NHL. The Canadian scored his first goal in the NHL in late November 2000 against the Washington Capitals . Shortly before the trade deadline in March 2001, Mair was transferred to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for Aki-Petteri Berg with a second-round vote in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft .

During the 2001/02 season Mair went on the ice in 18 games for the Kings, he also played 27 games in the AHL for the Manchester Monarchs , the rest of the season he missed due to injury. In the summer of 2002, the Kings decided to transfer Mair to the Buffalo Sabers together with a five-round vote in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for Erik Rasmussen . After this change, Mair never played in the AHL during his engagement in Buffalo, but was always in the Sabers NHL squad. The 2003/04 season was his best, when he scored six goals and 14 assists in 81 games. Until the end of the 2009/10 season he was mostly a regular player with the Sabers. In October 2010, he signed a contract with the New Jersey Devils , having previously attended the Devils training camp and pre-season.

After his contract expired in the summer of 2011, the Canadian was initially without a club before he signed a contract with the Springfield Falcons from the American Hockey League for the 2011/12 season . Previously, the striker had unsuccessfully participated in the Philadelphia Flyers pre-season , but without recommending himself for a commitment. He finally retired in the summer of 2012 at the age of 33 and was appointed Director of Player Development at Canisius College , which participated in the gaming operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . He left his post after a year before he was signed by his ex-team Buffalo Sabers as a development coach in the summer of 2015.
