Adam James Smith (born April 29, 1991 in Leytonstone ) is an English football player . The right full-back, who has been under contract with Tottenham Hotspur since his youth , has already played on loan at various lower-class clubs. He is also in the squad for the U-21 national team in his country.
Career
youth
Smith comes from the youth department of Tottenham Hotspur and has been part of the professional squad since summer 2008. However, in order to allow him match practice, a number of loan deals were subsequently concluded. In August 2009, he spent three months at third division Wycombe Wanderers before joining Torquay United in November of the same year . In Football League Two , he completed 16 games for the Gulls . In the 2010/11 season, a year-round loan from third division AFC Bournemouth followed , where he was able to play in the regular formation and played 38 league games in the season.
He spent the first series of the 2011/12 season with the Milton Keynes Dons, also belonging to the Football League One . A loan deal with the second division Leeds United was planned for the entire second half of the season , but this only lasted one month (until the end of February). Kyle Walker , the Spurs ' regular right-back , was injured and Smith was recalled from the loan. On the final day of the Premier League season, Smith was substituted on 15 minutes before the end of the game against Fulham FC , making his debut for the professional team.
At the beginning of the new season, Smith came to Tottenham in the League Cup and in the U21 Premier League before he went on loan at second-rate Millwall FC in November . This was initially limited to three months, but Millwall extended it until the end of the season. In January 2014 he moved permanently to AFC Bournemouth, with whom he made promotion to the first division for the 2016/17 season.
National team
Smith has played through all the junior national teams in his country apart from the U-18s. With the U-20s he took part in the 2011 World Cup in Colombia , where he played all four games until he was eliminated in the round of 16. Since September 2011 he has been in the U-21 squad , for which he has already played ten games and participated in the successful qualification for the European Championship in Israel 2013.
