The Agrupación Deportiva Alcorcón is a Spanish football team from Alcorcón in the Autonomous Community of Madrid . The club was founded in 1971 and plays its home games in the Municipal de Santo Domingo , which offers space for 3000 spectators.
The club currently plays in the Segunda División , the second highest Spanish football league.
history
The AD Alcorcón was founded in 1971 and spent the first seasons in the lower classes of the Divisiones Regionales de Fútbol de la Comunidad de Madrid and managed to move up to the Tercera División for the first time in the 1977/78 season , which at the time was still the third division, but went straight down again. But there was a direct resurgence. After the club played in the Tercera División for a long time in the 80s, the team always shuttled between the Tercera División and the regional leagues in the following decade. After being promoted to the fourth division again in 1999, the 1999/00 season was followed by direct promotion to Segunda División B, where one could remain since then. In the 2008/09 season they reached third place but missed promotion in the fourth round of the play-offs by losing to Real Unión Irún . The club achieved international fame when they beat Real Madrid 4-0 in the last 32 of the 2009/10 Copa del Rey . In 2010 the club rose to the Segunda División for the first time after a victory in the relegation against FC Ontinyent . In the 2011/12 season you could qualify with a fourth place in the table in the second division for the relegation playoffs to the Primera División , Alcorcón, however, failed in the final at Real Valladolid .
Copa del Rey 2009/10
After qualifying for the Spanish Cup several times before, but never getting past the third main round, this was achieved in the 2009/10 season. Due to a special feature of the draw system of the Spanish Football Association , the teams from the lowest divisions, which are still represented in the competition, are first drawn to the teams from the Primera División eligible to play in the international competitions . The AD Alcorcón was one of these lower-class teams, so Real Madrid were drawn.
The first leg took place on October 27, 2009 in Alcorcón, when Real Madrid arrived without the stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaká , but still played with a well-known team. Already in the 16th minute of the game Alcorcón took the lead through Borja Pérez and was able to extend the lead to 2-0 six minutes later with an own goal from Madrid. With two more goals in the 40th and 52nd minute of the game, the club won the game 4-0 in the end. As Real Madrid caused a sensation at the beginning of the season with some spectacular transfers, this defeat brought malicious reports worldwide. In the second leg, Madrid could not make up for this deficit with a 1-0 win.
The term Alcorconazo , created for the first leg, has now developed into a catchphrase in Spanish for similar victories of nominally inferior teams over clear favorites.
In the second round, Alcorcón was eliminated by Racing Santander .
