Alissa Michailowna Kleibanowa ( Russian Алиса Михайловна Клейбанова ; born July 15, 1989 in Moscow , Soviet Union ) is a Russian tennis player .
Career
Kleibanova, who started tennis at the age of five, prefers clay or grass courts. At the age of 14 she played her first ITF tournament, which she won straight away. Since 2009, she has played five games for the Russian Fed Cup team .
She celebrated her greatest sporting success in singles in 2010 with tournament victories in Kuala Lumpur (final against Jelena Dementjewa ) and in Seoul ( Klára Zakopalová ).
In doubles, she won the WTA tournaments in Tokyo , Fez and Budapest in 2009 with alternating partners . In 2011, the successes in Brisbane and Estoril were followed by two more tournament victories.
On July 15, 2011, it became known that Kleibanova had Hodgkin's lymphoma , a malignant tumor of the lymphatic system. On February 29, 2012, she announced that the cancer treatment had been successful and that she would return to the tennis court after a seven-month break at the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami. There she retired after an opening win over Johanna Larsson in round two with 6: 7 1 , 3: 6 against Marija Kirilenko .
After another break, she celebrated her second comeback in May 2013 at the ITF tournament in Landisville . She won the $ 10,000 tournament with a 6-3, 6-0 final win over Natalie Pluskota . Two more ITF tournaments followed, in which she was once again in the final. She made her comeback on the WTA Tour at the Rogers Cup 2013 in Toronto, where she competed under the protected status for long-term injuries ( Protected Ranking ); in the first round she was defeated there by Eugenie Bouchard .
Between the end of June 2014 at Wimbledon , where she was eliminated in the first round in singles and doubles, and in early November 2015 Kleibanova again did not play a tournament. In the world rankings (in 2011 she was number 20 in singles and in 2010 even number 10 in doubles), she was no longer listed. In November 2015 she was able to win a $ 10,000 tournament of the ITF Women's Circuit on her return to Antalya ; at the same place she won another $ 10,000 tournament in December.
In 2016, Kleibanova only failed to qualify for an ITF tournament. Since July 2017 she has been playing regularly on the ITF Tour again. Her biggest success since then was winning both singles and doubles at a tournament in Lubbock, Texas that September.
