The nature and landscape protection area Altrhein Neuburgweier is located in the Baden-Württemberg city of Rheinstetten in the district of Karlsruhe .
Characteristics
The area was designated as a nature and landscape protection area by ordinance of the Karlsruhe regional council of May 16, 1988. The NSG consists of two sub-areas and is managed under the protected area number 2.109, it is 119.6 hectares in size and is located in the district of Karlsruhe. The LSG of the same name has the number 2.15.043 and has a size of 91.3 hectares. The CDDA code for the nature reserve is 162131 and corresponds to the WDPA ID . The conservation area's WDPA ID is 319565.
location
The protected areas are directly adjacent to the site north of the Rheinstetten suburb of Neuburgweier . In the northwest, the Rhine borders the areas. They are both part of the 5,234 hectare FFH area No. 7015-341 Rhine lowlands between Wintersdorf and Karlsruhe and the bird sanctuary (SPA area) Rhine lowlands Elchesheim-Karlsruhe , which is 2165 hectares in size. Upstream of the Rhine, the nature and landscape protection area borders on the landscape protection area 2.16.011 Rheinwald in the Rastatt district and below on the LSG 2.12.003 Rheinaue , which is located in the area of the city of Karlsruhe.
The nature and landscape protection area is located in the natural area 222- Northern Upper Rhine Lowland within the natural spatial main units 22- Northern Upper Rhine Lowland .
Protection purpose
The protection purpose for the nature reserve is
- the preservation and promotion of a former arm of the old Rhine of the beginning meander zone with its silting zones, aquatic plant communities, softwood and hardwood floodplains as a habitat for an adapted flora and fauna,
- the preservation and promotion of the softwood and hardwood floodplain sites and forests in the floodplain with their structural wealth, especially for insects, amphibians, birds and mammals as well
- the preservation and promotion of near-natural secondary biotopes of the "Unteren Schmierig" as well as the "Tankgraben" with their rich floating leaf plant communities, reed beds and woody plants, which represent an important function in the biotope network of feeding and retreat biotopes for the fauna of the open landscape.
The protection purpose for the landscape protection area is
- the preservation and promotion of the predominantly agricultural and forestry areas and soils and the semi-natural biotope elements such as woody plants, fruit trees, hedges and semi-natural alluvial forest parts, which are structured in small parts;
- the creation of sufficient areas as buffer zones for the nature reserve and as a supplementary area for wild fauna and
- the preservation and promotion as a recreation area for the local population.
