The administrative area extends from the Baltic Sea in the north to the Niepar office in the south. The west of the office borders on the Grabow , part of the Barther Bodden and the east borders on the Prohner Wiek and the Strelasund . The city of Stralsund is to the southeast . Except for the Prohner Bach and the Prohner Reservoir, there are no significant inland waters in the office. The north of the office is part of the Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft National Park .
