episode 1
The student Anna Pelzer is her father's favorite and an apprentice in a children's ballet group. She suffers a vertebral injury in a car accident caused by her brother Philipp. While the doctors are calculating that she has a good chance of recovery, Anna is convinced that she cannot even move her arms. The shocked father turns away from his son and eventually moves out of the family home. In the hospital and later in the rehabilitation clinic, Anna meets Rainer, who has to rely on a wheelchair after a skiing accident and who uses drastic methods to break her blockage. Eventually Rainer discovers that Anna is passionate about dancing.
Episode 2
Rainer tries to convince Anna to believe in her dream of dancing, but she waves it away. Father Pelzer forgives Philipp and returns to his family. Anna's healing is making great strides. She can leave the rehabilitation clinic and attend a new, particularly art-promoting school. There she met Siegrid and also aroused the interest of the student Jacob, who taught dance there and had already made the acquaintance of Anna a few days earlier after a performance of Prometheus . He wants to train with her, but Anna's orthopedic surgeon is initially against the demanding sport. This then buries itself and neglects Rainer. But eventually the doctor changes his mind. Anna happily reports to her boyfriend that her dream will come true after all.
Episode 3
Anna is supposed to dance the main part in her school's Christmas performance. While she fears the envy of the other girls and the director of the school, Dr. Fabian, not convinced that it makes sense to give her such preferential treatment, Jacob is convinced of her talent. Without further ado, he introduces her to his ballet master Irena Kralowa. In fact, the formerly celebrated ballet dancer comes to Anna's school appearance. While this is celebrated by friends and family, "the Kralowa" recommends Anna's parents to support their daughter more if she actually wants to become a dancer.
When Anna visits her boyfriend at home, she realizes that his mother is overprotective and seems to have no idea of her son's strength. Meanwhile Rainer befriends Philipp, who supports his sister - like Rainer - morally. Together with Siegrid, Anna switched to Kralowa's ballet school, but initially only to a trial training session lasting several months. Despite a clear blunder in the entrance exam , Anna and Siegrid are accepted there.
Episode 4
Madame Kralowa, who had to give up her career as a prima ballerina due to a serious illness , sees Anna as her successor. She decides to send Anna to Paris for a youth competition, much to Jacob's disappointment, who never got a similar chance. Against the initial resistance of her father, Anna went to Paris and worked there with Madame d'Arbanville, chief judge of the competition and former trainer of Madame Kralowa. While her family and Rainer miss her, Anna becomes interested in a group of musical dancers who train in the same building.
Episode 5
When Anna advises her parents not to come to the competition, they grudgingly cancel their trip to Paris. On the eve of the competition, Anna began to suffer from unbearable toothache, which she eventually "treated" with alcohol. When Madame Kralowa and Jacob arrive, Anna is drunk. Jacob makes every effort to get her sober in time, but Anna's performance is a success: she receives a scholarship to the Paris Opera . When Jacob later kisses her exuberantly, they are surprised by Madame Kralowa, who slaps her student. Jealous and injured, he said goodbye to his teacher a little later in the direction of London .
Although Anna is mad at Madame Kralowa, she returns to Germany with her, determined to refuse the scholarship. When Jacob later shows up again briefly at Kralowa's school and leaves after a fleeting farewell to Anna and without further explanation, the lovesick dancer and her teacher have a heated argument, in which the latter collapses and has to be hospitalized. Meanwhile, Philipp is increasingly worried about Rainer, who is acting increasingly strange and plunging into dangerous tests of courage.
Episode 6
While Madame Kralowa is still very weak in the hospital, Anna has to work with Mr. Nierich, who is taking over from his colleague. Both do not like each other and do not get along. Nierich suspends Anna after she campaigned for Siegrid, who was humiliated by the trainer. However, since Anna is one of the greatest talents and is not allowed to leave school, Nierich waves to her with the prospect of participating in a ballet performance of Swan Lake . At the same time, she misses Jacob, who has apparently disappeared in London without a trace. Finally, Anna witnesses how Rainer puts his life in danger during one of his tests of courage. He confesses that he's jealous of Jacob.
At Madame Kralova's hospital bed, Anna meets Madame d'Arbanville again, who agrees to train with her for her first opera performance as a little swan. While driving through the car wash, Philipp and Anna meet Jacob, to their surprise, who is obviously working there after his failed trip to London. He confesses to her that he was rejected after an audition and that he now wants to teach at Kralowa's school at Nierich's side. Anna is disappointed with his behavior.
On the evening of Anna's big performance, the weakened Kralowa makes her way to the opera with him, despite Jacob's concerns. Anna's family as well as Rainer, his mother and Siegrid are also watching Anna's performance, which is ultimately a great success. But the joy is suddenly clouded when Anna leaves the stage and finds the dead Madame Kralowa, who died during the presentation of her illness. At her grave, Anna later says goodbye to her dead mentor and Jacob by giving him a scarf that her mother once knitted for her first crush. Finally Rainer asks how she imagines her future, but Anna owes him an answer and kisses him instead.
