Schlemmer Atlas
The Schlemmer Atlas (from 1997 to 2003 ARAL Schlemmer Atlas ) is a restaurant guide from the Busche publishing company from Dortmund . The Schlemmer Atlas appears in the Aral tourism program of Deutsche BP.
The Schlemmer Atlas has been published annually since 1973 at the end of October and in its 39th edition for 2013 it lists over 4,000 restaurants in Germany, Alsace, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Austria, South Tyrol and Switzerland.
The restaurants are rated with a wooden spoon symbol , with one wooden spoon standing for “ambitious cuisine”, while the maximum rating is five wooden spoons. The criteria are a restaurant with excellent cuisine, first-class basic products, a high level of creativity and quality with the best possible and above all imaginative preparation of the dishes, selected great wines and excellent service in an appropriate atmosphere.
The development tendency (half evaluation level) is indicated by an upright arrow behind the wooden spoon symbols.
Analogous to the Schlemmer Atlas, there is also a hotel guide Schlummer-Atlas .
