building

Building Hohenzollernstrasse 155

It is a three-storey plastered building with vertical, rustic grooved plaster and mansard roof , 11: 5 axes ; the central entrance as a three-axis, flat risalit emphasized by a triangular gable with stucco figures that refer to the motif of the fire ( inscription Cave igne ), thus to the original use of the building by Gladbacher Feuerversicherungs-AG .

The double-wing entrance is emphasized by stone slabs and carved reliefs on both sides of the skylight. The grooved windows are modern. Rough plaster facade with pilaster structure , pilaster strips on the edges emphasized by simple block frieze , parapet fields under the upper floor windows with simple stucco cartouche . Far protruding simple cornice with embedded oval plastered fields. Mansard roof with raised, vertically standing oculi . The entrance area was revised as a spacious hall with columns above a high staircase in the 1950s. The two-flight staircase leads to the first floor, which reveals the wall structure of the early 20th century in the stairwell and hallway area.

Otherwise, the inside of the building is strongly influenced by the 1950s. The structure of the entrance hall with a three-part lower staircase with intermediate landings, twin columns with a massive surrounding architrave and the preciousness of the materials were retained during the redesign in 1957/58, lighter and clearer in line with the times, details removed.

The building was entered under No. H 100 on November 5, 2001 in the monuments list of the city of Mönchengladbach .
