The Aston Martin Cygnet is a small car from the British car manufacturer Aston Martin . The official launch took place at the 81st Geneva Motor Show 2011.
Vehicle characteristics
The Cygnet was Aston Martin's first and so far only mini car. Technically, it was based on the Toyota iQ . Aston Martin decided to produce such a vehicle model for two main reasons :
Owners of an Aston Martin sports car should also be able to move around in an urban environment with a luxurious automobile that is tailor-made for this purpose. In order to determine the need for such a vehicle, the manufacturer got in direct contact with its customers. The response was positive, so it was decided to implement the Cygnet. Aston Martin also has an extremely high fleet consumption . The Cygnet, with its CO 2 emissions of 116 g / km (with 6-speed manual transmission), was an effective tool for reducing fleet consumption.
Contrary to initial considerations on the part of Aston Martin - and contrary to previous press releases claimed - the Cygnet could be purchased by anyone interested. Anyone who already owned an Aston Martin should receive preferential delivery.
The entire Aston Martin paint and customization palette was available for the Cygnet. For example, the customer could have the interior finished with the same contrasting stitching and decorative strips, as well as the same leather and Alcantara that also line his large Aston Martin.
The Cygnet was available in Germany from a list price of 37,995 euros . The launch edition, limited to 100 pieces and exclusively available in black or white, cost € 48,995. However, these prices did not include full equipment. For example, the most expensive leather upholstery cost around € 5,000 and the most expensive exterior color around € 4,300.
In September 2013, the production of the Cygnet was stopped after only two years due to insufficient sales. Instead of the planned 4000 vehicles per year, only 143 were sold in the UK and 593 in total.
