The Aston Martin Valkyrie is a hybrid supercar produced by the British car manufacturer Aston Martin . It is developed and built in collaboration with Red Bull Racing .
background
The project, named AM-RB 001 , was presented on July 5, 2016. AM stands for Aston Martin and RB for Red Bull (Racing) . 001 stands for the first collaboration between the two companies. The goal is a power to weight ratio of one kilogram per horsepower and road approval . In mid-February 2017, Aston Martin presented the development partners. In addition to Red Bull Racing , these include Bosch , Cosworth , Michelin , Multimatic, Rimac Automobili and Ricardo . 150 copies are planned for road traffic and up to 25 for track days ; deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2019.
The official name was announced on March 6, 2017. The name Valkyrie ( German Valkyrie ) comes from Nordic mythology and is part of a long tradition of Aston Martin models with V as the first letter, such as the Vantage models or the Vulcan .
Vehicle characteristics
The Aston Martin Valkyrie is designed as a hybrid sports car with a mid-engine and thus competes with the Porsche 918 , McLaren P1 , Ferrari LaFerrari , or Koenigsegg Regera as well as Mercedes-AMG One and the McLaren Speedtail (these represent the next generation of hypercars, the even more extreme supercars). The monocoque built by Multimatic is made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic . The Valkyrie uses a 6.5 liter V12 from Cosworth as the engine. In addition, an ERS is to be installed, which is being developed by Rimac. The power is transmitted by a sequential 7-speed gearbox from Ricardo. The system output is 1176 hp and the total weight is around 1030 kg. The maximum speed should be around 400 km / h.
