The Mercedes-AMG ONE (internal designation R50 ) is one of Mercedes-AMG -developed, two-seat plug-in hybrid - supercar . The concept vehicle, named Project ONE , was presented to the public for the first time on September 11, 2017 at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt am Main . The model designation of the series vehicles will be ONE .
In the vehicle, the same driving unit is used as in the Formula 1 - racing car Mercedes W07 F1 hybrid . The total output of the 1.6-liter V6 petrol engine and the three electric motors is 773 kW (1054 hp). The edition of the small series is limited to 275 copies, the delivery of the first vehicles should start in 2019. The market launch had to be postponed due to complications with adjustments to the drive train that were relevant for approval . It is now planned for 2021.
Powertrain
The drive unit of the ONE comes from the Mercedes F1 W07 Hybrid racing car used in the 2016 Formula 1 World Championship . The mid- mounted V6-cylinder gasoline engine from Mercedes AMG HPP has the designation Mercedes-Benz PU106C Hybrid . With a displacement of 1.6 liters, it develops 558 kW (759 hp) at 11,000 rpm. The gas exchange takes place via 4-valve cylinder heads with pneumatic valve springs, the four camshafts are driven via spur gears . The engine is equipped with an electrically assisted exhaust gas turbocharger and a downstream charge air cooler . The turbocharger's paddle wheels and an 80 kW (109 PS) electric machine sit on the same shaft in the hot “V” between the cylinder heads. This enables the motor to respond without delay and to partially recover unused thermal energy . A 120 kW (163 PS) electric motor acts on the crankshaft of the combustion engine via gear wheels and generates electricity to charge the traction batteries when towing . The combustion air is supplied via a suction air housing with an air scoop positioned on the vehicle roof . Power is delivered to the actively steered rear wheels via a newly developed, automated manual transmission with eight forward gears. Two electric motors with 120 kW (163 hp) each drive the front wheels. They enable active torque distribution and purely electric drive over a distance of around 25 kilometers. For the use of commercially available super plus fuel , the maximum speed of the gasoline engine is limited to 11,000 / min, its inspection interval is 50,000 km (in the Mercedes F1 W07 Hybrid: 14,000 / min or 4000 km).
