August Eduard Ernst Stein von Kaminski (born October 4, 1848 in Bromberg , † October 1922 ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

August was a son of the Prussian forest master Eduard von Kaminski († 1865) and his wife Adelheid, née Stier († 1894).

Military career

After his upbringing in his parents' house and in the Berlin cadet house , Kaminski joined the 8th East Prussian Infantry Regiment No. 45 of the Prussian Army in Graudenz on June 13, 1866 as porter ensign . In the same year he fought during the war against Austria near Trautenau and Königgrätz and was promoted to second lieutenant on June 20, 1866 for bravery in front of the enemy . At the beginning of April 1869 he was promoted to adjutant of the 2nd Battalion and as such took part in the battles at Colombey , Gravelotte and Noisseville and the sieges of Metz and La Fère in 1870/71 during the war against France .

Awarded the Iron Cross, Second Class, Kaminski graduated from the War Academy in October 1873 and was promoted to Prime Lieutenant in August 1874 . During his command, he was transferred to the 6th Thuringian Infantry Regiment No. 95 at the beginning of February 1875 and, after graduating from the academy, served in the 4th Company in Gotha . From September 15, 1877 to June 13, 1879, Kaminski was in command as adjutant to the Metz governorate and was transferred to the 7th Thuringian Infantry Regiment 96 on April 12, 1879 under position à la suite . After he had been promoted to redundant captain on May 1, 1879 , Kaminski was assigned to the regiment as a company commander on June 14, 1879 . In the fall of 1884 he took part in the general staff tour of the IV Army Corps . Under promotion to surplus Major followed on March 2, 1889 his commanding as adjutant to General Command of the III. Army Corps . This was followed from March 24, 1890 to May 13, 1894 as a commander of the 2nd Battalion in the Grenadier Regiment "Graf Kleist von Nollendorf" (1st West Prussian) No. 6 in Posen . Kaminski was then appointed lieutenant colonel to the regular staff officer in the grenadier regiment "King Wilhelm I" (2nd West Prussian) No. 7 and was then from April 18, 1895 to March 21, 1897 in the same capacity in the Queen Elisabeth Guard Grenadier -Regiment No. 3 active. After being promoted to colonel , Kaminski was then commander of the 1st Hanoverian Infantry Regiment No. 74 . On June 16, 1900, he was promoted to major general and commander of the 65th Infantry Brigade in Mörchingen . In this position, Kaminski received the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd Class with Oak Leaves, on the occasion of the Order Festival in 1902 . Under awarding of the character he was on 18 July 1903 in approval of his lieutenant-general farewell request with the statutory board for disposition made.
