Basarny Sysgan ( Russian База́рный Сызга́н ) is an urban-type settlement in the Ulyanovsk Oblast in Russia with 5715 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The place is about 120 km as the crow flies southwest of the Ulyanovsk Oblast Administrative Center on the Volga Plateau . It is located on the Sysganka, a right tributary of the right Sura tributary Insa .
Basarny Sysgan is the administrative center of Basarnosysgansky Rajons and the seat of the municipality of Basarnosysganskoje gorodskoje posselenije, which also includes the villages of Krasnaya Sosna, Znamensky Sjuksyum and Tschirikowo (all about 13 km north) and the settlement of Dalneje Pole (18 km north).
history
The place was founded in 1638 by Strelizen as Sysganskaja sloboda in the course of the Simbirsk-Karsuner Verhaulinie , named after the river. In the 18th century the place got its current name; alternatively, after the local church, the name Dmitrijewskoje was used for a time. As a result he belonged to the Ujesd Karsun of the Simbirsk governorate .
In 1935 Basarny Sysgan became the administrative seat of a newly created Rajons named after him, and in 1938 it received the status of an urban-type settlement. In 1956 the Rajon was dissolved and merged into the Insenski rajon with its seat in the small town of Insa located 30 km to the northwest . In 1989 the Rajon was newly formed.

In Basarny Sysgan the station is Bazarnaya at kilometer 760, which opened on this section in 1900 and since 1959 electrified railway line Moscow - Ryazan - Syzran . The 73K-1430 regional road runs through the settlement and follows the railway line from Insa to Barysch , 25 km southeast of Basarny Sysgan .
