Ischejewka ( Russian Ише́евка ) is an urban-type settlement in the Ulyanovsk Oblast ( Russia ) with 10,383 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The settlement is located about 15 km northwest of the center of the oblast capital Ulyanovsk on the eastern edge of the Volga Heights . It is located on the right bank of the Swijaga and about 8 km from the right bank of the Volga , which is dammed up there to form the Kuibyshev reservoir .
Ischejewka is the administrative center of the Rajons Uljanowski and seat of the municipality Ischejewskoje gorodskoje posselenije, (km 12 north-northeast) which also includes the six villages Dubrovka, Linjowka (11 km north), Maximowka (8 km north), Novaya Bedenga (10 km east), Poldomassowo (5 km north-northeast) and Salmanowka (5 km north) and the settlement Slanzewy Rudnik (8 km east-northeast, on the banks of the Volga) belong.
history
The first mention from the beginning of the 17th century as a resident " Tatars with Prince Isheev" ( Tatar Işäy ), after whom the place was named. The founding year is 1625. In 1648 a Cossack unit was stationed there in the course of the Simbirsk - Karsuner Verhaulinie along the then border of Tsarist Russia , which marked the beginning of the Russian settlement of the area.
There was an economic boom from the end of the 18th century with the development of the estate of the aristocratic Krotow family. Among other things, they opened a cloth factory in 1802 . This is why Ischejewskaja fabrika was also used as a place name until the 20th century .
On November 27, 1945, Isheevka received urban-type settlement status. In 1977 the administrative seat of the Ulyanovsk district was moved to Isheevka.

A good 3 km west of Isheevka, on the other side of the Sviyaga, is the Laischewka railway station at km 181 of the ( Kazan -) Sviyashsk - Ulyanovsk line, which opened in 1942 .
To the west, past the train station, the settlement is bypassed by the federal trunk road R241 , which also connects Kazan and Ulyanovsk, and from the south-east of Isheevka and on the northern edge of Ulyanovsk the road over the almost 6 km long new Volga bridge opened in 2009 ( "Presidential Bridge") branches off. The A151 Ziwilsk - Ulyanovsk runs a further 3 km west of the train station and turns into a spacious bypass road around the oblast center.
