The film represents the fourth part in the Bibi & Tina film series, which is based on the children's radio play series of the same name . As in the previous parts, the main roles of Bibi Blocksberg and Tina Martin are again cast with Lina Larissa Strahl and Lisa-Marie Koroll .

The film opened on February 23, 2017 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

action

While riding along the river, Bibi and Tina meet a young runaway who introduces himself as Aladdin and declares that he has fled Syria to Germany. They take him with them, but are surprised when they meet the brothers Karim and Sinan, who also claim to come from Syria, in a barn the following night. It quickly turns out that the young Aladin is actually not from Syria and, moreover, is not a boy at all, but a girl named Adea. She explains to Bibi and Tina that she comes from Albania and fled from her family because they wanted to force her to marry her and had forbidden her to go to school. In addition, her uncle Igor and her two cousins are already hot on their heels to bring her back.

Meanwhile, the Falkenstein Castle is being rebuilt by the building contractor Dirk Trumpf, who wants to enclose it with a high wall.

Alex wants to organize a music festival with the Malian band Tohuwabohu on the premises and therefore opposes his father, Count Falko.

After Tina is kidnapped by Adea's cousins, Adea surrenders and follows them to Albania. Bibi hexes Tina, Tarik, Alex and herself in Adea's village to prevent the forced marriage. However, only Adea's cousins can convince Igor to give up the project and let her go back to school.

Finally, Count Falko also realizes that Trumpf is ripping him off, and together with Alex he declares the castle an "open house".

production

The film was produced by DCM Film Distribution and shot in Berlin-Brandenburg , Saxony-Anhalt and Croatia . The Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg funded the film with 400,000 euros.

reception

By the end of 2017, 1.65 million moviegoers had seen the film. The film received mixed reviews from critics. Oliver Kaever from Spiegel Online found in his criticism: “The German attitude of superiority expressed in Tohuwabohu Total is not only completely inappropriate. Nor does it fit at all with the actually happy - and important - multicultural message that the film is trying to spread. Maybe Bibi and Tina should have just kept jumping over the moat. "

Antje Wessels von Filmstarts said: “Anyone who, after Bibi & Tina - Tohuwabohu , still totally believes that the franchise, which originally started as a family film series, is only for little girls, also believes that Donald Trump's idea with the wall is a good one . Bibi and Tina show how: With this cosmopolitan, complex and extremely creative film, the two cosmopolitan girls get exactly the graduation film they deserve. "
