Billie Holiday / Discography
This discography of Billie Holiday is composed of approximately 125 Singles ( 78 RPM and 45 RPM ), single albums, E.Ps , numerous studio and live - LPs , and more than 1,200 compilation albums, box sets and reissues that were published after her death.
The singer had recorded for Columbia Records from 1933 to 1942 , appeared on the sub-labels Brunswick , Vocalion and OKeh , from 1939 to 1944 for Commodore Records (and during this time a single for Harmony , one for Capitol , and several songs for the Army label V-Disc ) and from 1944 to 1950 for Decca Records . In 1951 some titles were created for Aladdin . From 1952 to 1957 she was under contract with Norman Granz and recorded for his label Clef , Mercury and Verve . Her penultimate album Lady in Satin was released again on Columbia Records, her last recordings in 1959 on MGM Records . In addition, three 10 "LPs have been released under the unauthorized pirate label" Jolly Roger ".

Among the more than 1200 compilations stand out: The first comprehensive compilation "The Billie Holiday Story", the early years of the Columbia years from 1933 to 1944 with the CD series The Quintessential Billie Holiday Vols. 1-7 , analogous to the chronological preparation by the reissue label Classics . Columbia also released the edition Lady Day: The Complete Billie Holiday on Columbia 1933-1944 (CXK 85470) on ten CDs. The recordings of the Commodore years of 1939 and 1944 are held on The Complete Commodore Recordings (Commodore CMD 24012); the Decca years from 1944 to 1950 on The Complete Original Decca Recordings (GRP Records 052601-2). The singer's late Clef / Verve recordings (including the JATP live recordings Holidays) appeared on the 10-CD compilation The Complete Billie Holiday on Verve 1945-1959 .
