The Binzener Schlösschen (also Großes Haus Zantisches Haus or Freihof ) is a former Freihof located in the municipality of Binzen in the district of Lörrach .
history
The house was built in 1559 by Binzen Burgvogt Wagner. His daughter, Magdalena, married the margravial councilor and land clerk of Hochberg , Martin Wyß. In 1599, Wyß received a letter of freedom from Margrave Georg Friedrich von Baden-Durlach , which exempted him and his descendants from all taxes and duties and placed them directly under the jurisdiction of the manor. The Wyß family was raised to the nobility by Emperor Rudolf II because of the merits of Hans-Werner Wyß in the war against the Hungarians in 1601 - they then called themselves Wyß von Binzen .
The house is still inhabited today.
description
The house stands above the church in Binzen. It is a three-storey, rectangular house with an octagonal stair tower built on the south side with a spiral staircase made of sandstone.
