In April 2015, a report from Metropolico was the subject of a small request from CDU MP Peter Biesenbach in the North Rhine-Westphalia state parliament .

The Frankfurt police presented footage of Metropolico as evidence to the Frankfurt Administrative Court in the proceedings concerning the legality of the police operation at the Blockupy demonstration . According to a report by the Frankfurter Rundschau, the footage shows the clashes between demonstrators and officials after the police broke up the demonstration. In June 2013, the police union in Baden-Württemberg published a report by Metropolico in its union newspaper "GdP digital", in which the reporting by the Frankfurter Rundschau was sharply criticized. The report was later removed. According to the editor in charge, the tenor of the report corresponded to his opinion and that of his colleagues on site. But he did not do enough research to find out where the report came from.

reception

The Frankfurter Rundschau called Metropolico a spin-off product from the “leading Islam-hating blog PI-News ” and a “reactionary” portal. The portal's enemy images are also in this split-off Muslims, gays, liberals, Freemasons as well as the “mainstream” of the “EUSSR”. The daily accused the portal of agitation against Islam and the left as well as homophobia . According to an article in the daily newspaper by Sebastian Friedrich ( Duisburg Institute for Language and Social Research ), the portal was "committed to the cause of the AfD ". The Internet portal Publikative.org of the Amadeu Antonio Foundation described Metropolico as “Islamhassblog”, “anti-Muslim” and “anti-Islamic”. According to Roland Sieber, Metropolico was one of the AfD's "unofficial party newspapers" like the weekly Junge Freiheit . According to the Amadeu Antonio Foundation's blog no-nazi.net , Metropolico was a platform that was known for conspiracy theories or “other forms of decomplexitarian agitation”. Der Spiegel described Metropolico as one of the largest portals of the national-conservative scene. The publicist Christoph Giesa described Metropolico as a “ right ” scene portal. According to the Wiener Zeitung , the portal sold right-wing populist content under the label "bourgeois - liberal - independent". The anti-fascist information, documentation and archive office in Munich (aida) also described Metropolico as right-wing populist. The social scientist Alexander Häusler ( research focus on right-wing extremism / neo-Nazism at the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences ) called the Internet portal “right-wing”.

Legal dispute with the daily newspaper

The journalist Marlene Kaiser described Blu-News in the daily newspaper in 2013 as a “ neo-Nazi platform”. Metropolico took legal action against this designation. The Munich Regional Court judged the statement as an “inadmissible degradation and defamatory criticism”, which was not covered by the right to freedom of expression. The article also does not deal in any way with Blu-News (Metropolico), its goals or its thematic orientation. The court sentenced the daily newspaper to a fine of almost 1,060 euros and, in the event of an infringement, to a fine of up to 250,000 euros.
