production
Blue Tattoo was produced by David Brandes just like the previous album, Traces of Sadness . Jan Weskott designed the CD. As a co-producer, Domenico Labarile worked on some titles. Most of the songs on the record were written by Bernd Opinion . Exceptions are the three titles I Don't Care at All , Undercover Girl and My Puzzle of Dreams . These were written by band members Lenna Kuurmaa and Piret Järvis . Christoph Leis-Bendorff mixed the songs Hellracer and Undercover Girl , Gary Jones the remaining songs. Michael Wilfling created the cover photo as well as all other band and individual photos that are printed in the booklet.
content
Blue Tattoo follows a similar structure to its predecessor, Traces of Sadness . It also contains twelve tracks with two so-called "extended versions" of two album tracks that have not been decoupled. There are also two music videos for the first two singles on the album. The album Blue Tattoo also begins with the previous first single, in this case the title track. Musically there are ballad-like pieces ("Just Another Day to Live", "My Puzzle of Dreams"), as well as heavier songs ("Hellracer") on the CD. All lyrics can be read in the booklet. There are also single images and band photos. There is also an autograph of the singers.
The title My Puzzle of Dreams is a cover by the band E-Rotic . The original song is called Save Me and was released in 1997. Brandes covered the song again in 2006. Shanadoo's version was called Wake Me and was released on her debut album Welcome to Tokyo . In addition, the song Corner of My Mind is similar in melody and chorus to Don't Go Too Fast, which was released as a single in 2004 . The third song that was covered is Hellracer . This track was marketed by Gracia Baur as Sacrifice Me on her second album Passion . Brandes used several songs for different artists, in a slightly modified form.

Chart manipulation allegations
In 2005, “Blue Tattoo” was one of the albums that were part of a so-called chart scandal. David Brandes is said to have paid people to buy CDs from Vanilla Ninja and Gracia Baur in order to place them higher in the charts. Brandes responded to the allegations about two weeks later and stated that he wanted to "clear up" the matter. However, “buying hamsters” would “be part of the daily business,” says Brandes. On April 19, 2005, David Brandes stated on the Johannes B. Kerner talk show that he had bought 2,000 CDs by his own artists. He rejected the number from Media Control , according to which he is said to have purchased 31,000 CDs.
reception
"Blue Tattoo" is not a cheap copy of its predecessor. Rock is not the only convincing hobby of the women power band. Just like the hard sounds, the Estonian quartet also masters the theme of ballads. With the atmospheric mid-tempo ballad "The Coldest Night", the four young women show that they can easily survive in calmer musical waters. In conclusion, it remains to be said that the entire record was produced for radio use. No wonder ... Conclusion: decent follow-up and definitely recommended. "
