Bonaventure of Brederlow

Heinrich Friedrich Bonaventura von Brederlow (born June 3, 1791 on Gut Groß-Saalau ; † February 3, 1867 in Merseburg ) was a Prussian major general and travel marshal of Duke Franz von Anhalt-Dessau .

Life

origin

Bonaventura came from the old Pomeranian noble family Brederlow . He was the son of Adam Carl Wilhelm von Brederlow (1754-1804) and his wife Caroline Ernestine, née von Pogwisch . His father was a landscape councilor as well as a gentleman in Groß- and Klein-Saalau and others. Brederlow was a cousin of Goethe's daughter-in-law Ottilie von Goethe , née von Pogwisch.

Military career

Brederlow began his military career in the Prussian Army as a private corporal in the infantry regiment "von Rüchel" . With the regiment he took part as an ensign in the battle of Prussian Eylau and the battles near Soldau and Königsberg during the campaign in 1806/07 . After the Peace of Tilsit, Brederlow stayed with the army and was promoted to Second Lieutenant in the 1st East Prussian Infantry Regiment on January 3, 1808 . In 1812 he was assigned to the French General van Hogendorp and the French Rear Admiral Count Raste.

In the Wars of Liberation , Bredelow first took part in the battle of the Katzbach as a prime lieutenant . In Leipzig he was wounded and with the Iron Cross awarded II. Class. He then fought at Laon and received the Order of St. Vladimir IV class after the Battle of Paris . He advanced further and rose to captain in the 2nd Rhenish Landwehr Regiment by April 1815. In 1822 he became major and at the end of March 1834 came to Posen as commander of the 1st Battalion in the 19th Infantry Regiment . Here Bredelow rose to lieutenant colonel on March 30, 1838 and two years later received the post of second in command of Posen as a colonel . Under awarding of the character as a major general Bredelow was on November 9, 1844 the statutory pension adopted. On October 18, 1861 he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle III. Excellent with the ribbon. He was also a Knight of the Order of St. John .

family

Brederlow married on May 28, 1828 in Langenstein Caroline Wilhelmine Antoniette von Branconi (1803-1888), who came from the old Calabrian family Pessina. She was the daughter of the royal Prussian chamberlain Anton von Branconi (1762-1827), and one born by Rössing. The couple had four children:
