Bremge / Biggesee is located south of the core town of Attendorn and east of Lake Bigge , while Bürberg is to the northeast . The Bremge brook flows through the village and flows into the reservoir of the Bigge lake to the west. The municipal road K 17 (Biggeseestrasse) leads past Bremge from Olpe to Helden . The valley encloses the Bremgetal nature reserve and side valleys as far as Berlinghausen .

history

Bremge was first mentioned in documents in 1338 as Bredenbeke . The name of the village was spelled differently over the centuries with Bremecke, Bremeken, Bremicke, Bremeke or Bremke . The place name is formed from the basic word -bēke (brook) and the qualifier brēd (broad, extended) and can therefore be interpreted as " (settlement) on the broad brook ". Politically, Bremge belonged from the 15th century to 1802 to the Electoral Cologne Duchy of Westphalia and in the Bilstein office to the parish of Helden, then to the municipality of Helden.

In Schatzungsregister 1543 are in Kirspell of Hilden in the peasantry Bremeken seven taxpayers with charges between 1 place (¼ Gg) and four gold crowns called. It bears the names Adam Hespe (Hesperth), Gerdrut Kusters Man , Herman van Bremeken and Hanß his brother , Johann Hette (hut), Adam Hutte (poor), Peter Hesperdt and Dorphierde Peter (village shepherd). Thus, Herman van Bremeken and his brother Hans owned the largest estate in the peasantry, with a levy of four gold guilders, which also included Bürberg in the northeast.

In 1601 the prior and the lords of the convent of Ewig gave their court in Listernohl to Hinrich Rinsche von Bremke and his wife Clara for 12 years. On September 25, 1618 it was recorded that Johann Plettenberg zu Bremge wanted to marry Catharina Schulte from Mecklinghausen . In 1647 a "Trippen Gut zu Bremge" was named in a document.

Those from Bremge who were confirmed in Attendorn on September 1, 1700 had the names "Clieve, Hermann, Köhn, Peter and Wilmes". Bremge and Bürberg belonged to the parish of Helden until 1909, after which they were accepted into the parish of Attendorn and incorporated into the branch community of Listernohl, a boon for the residents, they could now take the much shorter and better way to Listernohl to church on Sundays and public holidays go.

From the beginning of the 19th century, there was a single-class school in Bremge for students from Bremge, Bürberg, Imminghausen and Ackerschott , initially in Johann Bast's farmhouse, and from 1813 in a new building (later the farmer's barn, Struck). The number of students was 20 to 25. When it rose to 52 by 1909, a new school was built in 1911 opposite the old one in a garden area. The teacher Schleime, who worked for decades from 1880, will be remembered.

In 1936 there were 8 houses with 8 households and 54 residents in Bremge. The address book from 1938 in Bremge lists the names "Bast (4 people), Graes (teacher), Henkel, Hesse (2), Leowald (2), Struck (2) and Zeppenfeld (5)". The farmer Johann Leowald was a member of the municipality council of Helden. The address book from 1956 lists the names "Bast (4), Hesse (5), Heuel (2), Jacob (teacher), Klowersa, Leowald (5), Nuber, Struck (2) and Zeppenfeld (4)". At the end of 1988 Bremge had 31 residents.

The Heidenstrasse , a centuries-old military and trade route from Leipzig to Cologne , also a pilgrimage route in the Middle Ages, led through the Bremen area. As part of the municipal reorganization of 1969, Bremge was incorporated into the city of Attendorn.

The St. Nicholas Chapel, the Backhaus on Hof Leowald and the Backhaus on Hof Rinscheid are Attendorn architectural monuments .
