Brendan Hughes Francis Murray (born November 16, 1996 in Galway ) is an Irish singer and ex-member of the boy band HomeTown . He represented Ireland at the Euro Vision Song Contest 2017 in Ukrainian Kiev .

Life

Brendan Murray grew up as the son of David and Julieanne Murray in Galway, Ireland. Like his brother Denis, Murray played football at a young age, but opted for a career as a singer. He attended the Catholic St. Jarlaths School in Tuam until 2014 .

In 2014, Murray was chosen by Louis Walsh to be part of the six-member Irish boy band Hometown . The formation had some successes in Ireland over the next two years, including two number one hits Where I Belong and Cry for Help . Her first album HomeTown landed at number 4 on the Irish charts. In 2015 and 2016 they toured with the British band The Vamps . On December 7, 2016, the group announced an indefinite break.

On December 16, 2016, Murray was selected as a solo artist to represent Ireland at the upcoming ESC. His song was titled Dying to Try . After participating in the second semi-final, however, he could not qualify for the final.

In 2018 he took part in the 15th season of the British talent show The X Factor (United Kingdom) and finished fifth.
