His first single was released on August 7th 2011 together with the Irish, dance and dubstep trio Zenemy DJz on their own label. Since this cooperation, the entertainment of Zenemy DJz has been responsible for the visual and audiovisual presentation of its productions.
On May 13, 2013, the record label JM13 released his first studio album. The tracks were all by the British DJ duo Loverush UK! mixed and produced by David Hayes, Wez Devine and Ryan Dolan. It contains eight titles, but could not reach any chart positions.
In an interview with "Oikotimes", an online magazine that publishes news about the ESC, he said that his role models include pop singers like Michael Jackson or Bruno Mars , as well as dance and club musicians like the Swedish House Mafia or David Guetta . They all inspired him on the genre his music represents.

In 2013 he took part in the Irish preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 . He was the only candidate who presented his own composition in the national preliminary round. There he was able to prevail against four other candidates and was thus allowed to compete in the competition in Malmö with the pop song Only Love Survives for Ireland. He performed the song in the first semifinals in the Malmö Arena and made it to the final. There he took the last (26th) place. He received special support from producer and choreographer Stuart O'Connor, who has already accompanied the Jedward brothers on their live tours.
Music career after the ESC 2013
After his performance, Ryan said that he definitely wanted to keep making music and that he would quickly get over his defeat at the Eurovision Song Contest. He got a lot of positive feedback from this song and various record labels showed interest, including Universal Music .
