The Swarbriggs

The Swarbriggs were an Irish singing duo consisting of the brothers Thomas Sheridan (Tommy) Swarbrigg and John James (Jimmy) Swarbrigg .

In the 1960s, Tommy Swarbrigg was a trumpeter in Joe Dolan's show band The Drifters . In 1968 he founded their own show band The Times with other members of the group, for which his brother Jimmy joined as a singer. The Swarbrigg brothers began to write their own pieces. In 1975 the two left the show band to become active as a duo.

You have been selected to represent Ireland at the 1975 Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm . Her pop song That's What Friends Are For reached ninth place. With the vocal support of Nicola Kerr and Alma Carroll, they won again two years later as The Swarbriggs plus Two in the preliminary round. They were therefore allowed to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest 1977 in London with their title It's Nice To Be In Love Again . They ended up in third place.

After the band career, the Swarbriggs became active as a music promoter. They organized concerts and events for bands and artists like Smokie or Leo Sayer in Ireland.
