Sandie Jones

Sandie Jones (born 1950 or 1951 in Dublin ; † September 19, 2019 in the USA ) was an Irish pop singer in the 1970s.

She represented Ireland at the 1972 Eurovision Song Contest in Edinburgh . She was the only participant in the history of the competition to sing a title in Irish : The hit Ceol an Ghrá (English: music of love ) reached number 15 in the contest, and the piece went straight to number 1 in the Irish charts .

After that she was active in the show band scene for a few years and had her own combo, the Sandie Jones Band .

In the 1980s, Jones left Ireland and eventually settled in the United States.

Sandie Jones died in September 2019 at the age of 68 after a long illness.
