Muriel Day

Muriel Day (born January 11, 1942 in Newtownards , County Down ) is an Irish pop singer .

Muriel Day was a singer with The Saint's Showband in the 1960s and later with the Dave Glover Showband . In 1963 she had a small role as a nightclub singer in the film Beloved Spinner . She was selected by a preliminary decision to represent Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest 1969 in Madrid . Her hit The wages of love reached seventh place, but the title went to number 1 in the Irish charts . In 1971 she went to Canada , where she initially worked as a singer and later in the medical field. She returned to Belfast in the 1990s and still had small vocal appearances there.
