Butch Moore
James Augustine "Butch" Moore (born January 10, 1938 in Dublin , † April 3, 2001 ) was an Irish singer .
Life
Butch Moore, who had previously sang in various bands, joined the show band The Capitol in 1958 . Here his rise to one of the most famous Irish singers of the 1960s began. Three number 1 singles appeared under his name. As the winner of the first Irish preselection, he was allowed to compete at the Gran Premio Eurovisione della Canzone in Naples in 1965 . With the ballad Walking the Streets in the Rain he reached sixth place. Moore decided to move to the USA in 1970, where he married in 1972 and performed together with his wife as the duo Butch N Maeve . The couple also had a pub in Massachusetts .
Butch Moore died of a heart attack in 2001 .
