Pat McGuigan
Pat McGuigan (* 1935 in Clones as Patrick McGuigan ; † 1987 ) was an Irish pop singer.
He became known in Ireland in the 1960s as the singer of the show bands The Victors and then The Skyrockets . Under the name Pat McGeegan , he represented his country in 1968 at the Eurovision Song Contest in London . With the song Chance of a Lifetime he reached the fourth place. In the Irish charts, the title went straight to number 1 .
McGuigan followed his son, the boxer Barry McGuigan, to the United States and gained fame there, as he often opened his son's boxing matches with the song Danny Boy .
Pat McGuigan died in 1987 after a serious illness at the age of 52.
