biography

Life

Heather Bright grew up in Spartanburg, South Carolina, USA. In 2001, at the age of 19, she moved to Boston, Massachusetts to pursue a music career. There she attended Berklee College of Music , where she graduated in 2005. In 2005, she became part of the UPN reality TV series Road To Stardom with Missy Elliott, where she competed for a recording contract. However, she did not go through this successfully. After appearing on the show, she started a career as a songwriter in New York City. She is also active at B-Rhaka Publishing .

Career

2009: focus on songwriting

In 2009 Heather Bright first officially acted as a songwriter. This happened with Ashley Tisdale's Hot Mess , which was part of her second studio album, Guilty Pleasure . Guilty Pleasure debuted at number 12 on the US album charts. This was followed by a number of other songwriting contributions for artists such as Britney Spears , Usher , The Wanted and Far East Movement . She made her most successful contribution to the song Somebody To Love by Justin Bieber . The song reached number 15 in the US and number 16 in the German single charts.

Under the pseudonym Miss B-Rhaka , which is based on her publisher B-Rhaka Publishing , she released the two songs Jet, Set, Go! and Prom Night Flashback on their MySpace page. These are based on a mixture of rock, pop and dubstep music. Already in 2006 she could be heard under the pseudonym on Margot Blanche's song Inside Out .

2010 to 2012: First successes as a singer

In 2010, parallel to her songwriting career, she started a career as a singer in various areas of EDM . Her first contribution was with the producer duo Justin Michael & Kemal. The song Trouble was released on Ultra Records and reached number 22 on the US dance charts. A collaboration with the German musician Zedd followed . The song was titled Stars Come Out and was released in late 2011.

At the beginning of 2012 the song Don't Blame the Party was presented, which was created in cooperation with Bingo Players . It is a vocal version of the song Mode , the Bingo Players. She reached the Dutch and Belgian single charts with the track. On April 10, 2012, Ministry of Sound released their single with Porter Robinson . Language was based on a progressive house-heavy theme and embodied less of Robinson's complextro sounds. The song reached the top 10 of the UK and Scottish singles charts.

Also in spring 2012, the dubstep song Light It Up was released with the American producer Flinch. In a similar style, she worked with the US formation Savoy. The four songs We Are the Sun , More , So Bad and I Dare You came out. These were published by the successful Dutch label "Spinnin 'Records". Shortly thereafter, a second collaboration with Zedd appeared, entitled Follow You Down , on which it first appeared under the stage name Bright Lights . The song was part of his debut album Clarity .

2013 until today: collaboration with Hardwell, among others

In the following year, the Dutch DJ and producer Hardwell became aware of them and, in addition to a collaboration with 3LAU and Paris & Simo for the song Escape, also enabled a collaboration with him and Dyro . Here the song Never Say Goodbye came out, which was a great success. They performed the song together on June 22, 2013 at EDC 2013. At the same time, they recorded the song Let Me Be Your Home for Hardwell's studio album United We Are .

While she established herself more and more in the progressive house track in 2014 through publications like How You Love Me and Somehow with 3LAU and Dear Life with Dannic , she returned to hers with the song Where Are You Now , which was created in collaboration with Zeds Dead original dubstep style.

In 2015 she worked with HiFi, Thomas Gold and Dannic, among others . She also followed her activity on Hardwell's “ Revealed Recordings ”. In the summer of 2015, a collaboration with Hardstyler Wildstylez called Every Step I Take appeared , which was their first release in this genre. In October of the same year her first production in the field of trap appeared , which was carried out in collaboration with Slips & Slurs. This is called Heartless . At the same time she presented her first own single Runaway , in which 3LAU is a guest musician. The song is based on the Future Bass style, which was very popular at the time .

In October 2016, she released another single with Savoy, which, however, was far more pop compared to her previous collaborations. In January 2017, the song Heart of Stil was released in collaboration with Korean DJ and producer Raiden , which was released via Nicky Romero's "Protocol Recordings". The track is also based on Future Bass and was presented together at Ultra Japan 2016.

She also sang a vocal version of Hardwell's hit song Spaceman . However, this could not prevail against Mitch Crown's Call Me a Spaceman and remained unpublished for the time being. In 2015 she released the version as Mr. Spaceman for free download. From February 2 to 3, 2017, Hardwell also made a revised version available for free download to mark its fifth anniversary.
