The federal constituency of central Saxony (constituency 161) is a federal constituency in Saxony that was newly formed for the 2009 federal election . It includes the district of Central Saxony without the towns of Geringswalde , Lunzenau , Penig , the communities Claußnitz , Erlau , Hartmannsdorf , Königshain-Wiederau , Lichtenau and Wechselburg as well as the communities that are combined in the administrative communities of Burgstädt and Rochlitz .

With the district reform of 2008, the constituencies in Saxony were fundamentally redesigned. The area of the former Döbeln district and the towns of Frankenberg / Sa in the former Mittweida district . , Hainichen and Mittweida and the municipalities Kriebstein , Rossau , Altmittweida and Striegistal belonged to the 2005 election to the Bundestag constituency Döbeln - Mittweida - Meissen II , the former district Freiberg for parliamentary constituency Freiberg - Middle Erzgebirgskreis . For the 2013 federal election, the constituency number was changed from 162 to 161.
