Canadian Motors Ltd. was a Canadian manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The Galt company began importing automobiles in 1911 and then producing automobiles later that year. The brand name was Galt . Production ended in 1913. A total of around 50 vehicles were built.

Two employees took over the remains and founded Galt Motor .

There was no connection to the Canadian Motors of the same name from Toronto , which operated from 1900 to 1902.

vehicles

The first two models were imports from the Alpena Motor Car Company . Their Model C was called Canada Tourist and their Model D Canada Roadster .

The first own model was based on an Alpena model and also had a four-cylinder engine from Hazard . Bodies were supplied by the Guelph Carriage Co. From 1912, the vehicles were the first Canadian models to be equipped with an electric starter , which, however, did not prove itself. The Model E Special with the same starter is described as being quite expensive. The 1913 Model G was the greatest Galt. It had an engine with 40 to 45  hp and a different starter system.
