Menard Motor Truck Co. , formerly Windsor Carriage & Delivery Wagon Works , Menard Auto Buggy Co., and Menard Commercial Car Co. , was a Canadian manufacturer of motor vehicles .

Company history

Moise L. Menard founded Windsor Carriage & Delivery Wagon Works in Windsor in 1908 . Byron V. Covert, who previously worked for the Covert Motor Vehicle Company , developed an automobile. The brand name was Menard . In 1909 the company was in Buggy Co. Menard car renamed. Car production ended in 1910, but commercial vehicles were created instead . Further name changes to Menard Commercial Car Co. in 1910 and Menard Motor Truck Co. in 1917 followed. Production ended in 1919.

In 1920 the company was taken over by Maple Leaf Manufacturing Co.

vehicles

The car model was a high wheeler . An air-cooled two-cylinder engine with 16  hp was mounted under the seat. It drove the rear axle via a friction gear and chains. From 1910 the engines were water-cooled .

The trucks had either between 1.5 and 2 tons of payload or between 1 and 3.5 tons of payload. They had a six-cylinder engine of Beaver . In addition, were fire engines in the range.
