Company history

William Tudhope & Son , founded before 1876, was the largest car body manufacturer from Ontario around 1900 . In 1908 Tudhope-McIntyre Co. was founded in Orillia as an independent company for automobile production. The license came from the WH McIntyre Company in the USA . The brand name was initially Tudhope-McIntyre . In August 1909 a fire destroyed the plant. In 1910 the company was renamed Tudhope Motor Co. Ltd. renamed and built a new plant. The license has now come from the Metzger Motor Car Company for their Everitt brand . The Everitt brand name was adopted from 1910 to 1911 before being changed to Tudhope . In the summer of 1913 the company went bankrupt .

Fisher Motor Car took over the factory and many of the parts.

vehicles

The Tudhope-McIntyre was a high wheeler . A two-cylinder engine with 13  hp powered the rear wheels via a planetary gear and two chains. The sales figures were good.

The Everitt 30 was designed in a more modern way. It had a four-cylinder engine with 3910 cm³ displacement and 30 hp. The choice was between touring cars and roadsters .

The Tudhope 30 was just a revised version. A stronger differential , Bosch ignition , speedometer and a toolbox on the running board were the differences. This model was also considered obsolete in 1913 and ultimately found few buyers.

The Tudhope 6-48 was Canada's first six-cylinder model in series production. The six-cylinder engine had a displacement of 5866 cc. The wheelbase was 3223 mm. The superstructures offered space for two, five or six people. In 1913 electric lighting and an electric starter were added. The high price prevented high sales.
