Canadian Bartlett Automobile Co. Ltd. was a Canadian manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

RC Bartlett founded the company in Toronto in 1914 and began manufacturing automobiles. The brand name was Bartlett . In 1916 the company moved to Stratford . The lack of parts deliveries from the USA led to production cessation and bankruptcy in 1917 . A total of around 600 vehicles were built, one of which still exists.

vehicles

On offer were a five-seat touring car , a two-seat roadster and a light commercial vehicle . The double frame of the first vehicles was unusual. The lower one held the engine and drive train, the upper one the body. In between were air cushions that cushioned the shocks. This was necessary because Bartlett decided against pneumatic tires and solid rubber tires from its own production for reasons of durability . The four-wheel brakes, which were first used on a Canadian car, were modern.

The engines came from the USA. Northway Motors Corporation supplied the first seven , followed by Continental and Farmer . Most of them came from LeRoi .
