Carson Soucy (born July 24, 1994 in Viking , Alberta ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Minnesota Wild in the National Hockey League since April 2017 and plays for them in the position of defender .

Career

Carson Soucy was born in Viking and played in his youth for the Wainwright Polar Kings and the Lloydminster Bobcats, among others . He then ran for the Spruce Grove Saints in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL), the second highest junior league in his home province after the Western Hockey League . After he had noticed there due to its above-average physique primarily by physically robust Hockey, which elected him Minnesota Wild in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft at the 137th position. The defender moved to Minnesota for the following season when he enrolled at the University of Minnesota Duluth and from then on played for their team, the Bulldogs , in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC), a league in the game operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . With the Bulldogs he won the playoffs for the championship of the NCHC at the end of his four-year college career.

In April 2017, Soucy signed an entry contract with the Minnesota Wild, who used him until the end of the 2016/17 season with their farm team in the American Hockey League (AHL), the Iowa Wild . There he also spent most of the following season before making his debut in the National Hockey League (NHL) in April 2018 , where he also played four games in the 2018 Stanley Cup playoffs . The defender then returned to Iowa and played for the entire 2018/19 season in the AHL before establishing himself in Minnesota's line-up at the start of the 2019/20 season and has since been used regularly in the NHL.
