Catanauan (officially: Municipality of Catanauan ; Filipino : Bayan ng Catanauan ) is a Filipino municipality in the province of Quezon . It has 71,073 inhabitants (August 1, 2015 census). Catanauan was founded in 1700. The community is located on the Bondoc Peninsula , separated from Marinduque Island by the Mompog Passage .
