Giuseppe Cesare Perdisa (born October 21, 1932 in Bologna ; † May 10, 1998 ibid) was an Italian racing driver and businessman.

Career

Coming from a family of wealthy journalists and newspaper publishers who owned the respected motorsport magazine "Quattrorotte" , Perdisa was able to afford a Maserati 250F as a "man's driver " , which he drove with great talent during the 1955 Formula 1 season . At the Monaco Grand Prix , which was marked by many failures of the favorites, he shared the car with the more prominent Jean Behra , which brought him to the podium with third place. Due to the mandatory division of points, he was ranked 17th in the final classification of Formula 1 .

Between 1955 and 1957 it was to start eight times. However, with a fourth place in Belgium and fifth place at the French Grand Prix in Reims in the 1956 season , Cesare Perdisa had two more impressive placings, again sharing his monoposto with a driver - the Briton Stirling Moss . At the Argentine Grand Prix , Perdisa even drove a Ferrari up to the 33rd lap and then had to hand it over to Peter Collins , who at least now achieved sixth place. Since Perdisa didn't smile at her luck with another guest start this year, he must have cut back on his ambitions with a comparatively modest effort. The curious fact is that although he scored the points several times, he always had to share the car and the points with other drivers.

Perdisa had a special quirk of irritating Stirling Moss by beheading raw eggs and swallowing their contents in one gulp. Sometimes he is said to have even done this on the grid, which Moss just hated.

Perdisa also competed in sports car races , such as B. 1956 at the 1000 km race on the Nürburgring with a Maserati 300S and well-known "passengers" like Behra and Moss, but a defective wheel suspension ended the race prematurely. In 1957, however, he was lucky enough to win the 1000 km race in Buenos Aires with Eugenio Castellotti . When this gifted sports car driver had a fatal accident during test drives for Ferrari in Modena , Perdisa was shocked to announce his withdrawal from racing and devoted himself exclusively to his business.
