Hsu Chieh-yu ( Chinese 許 絜 瑜 , Pinyin Xǔ Jié-yú ; born January 14, 1992 in Taiwan ) is a Taiwanese tennis player .
Career
Hsu first attracted attention when she was eight when she won the Taiwanese U10 youth championships. She also played college tennis at Pennsylvania State University , scoring 44-3 as a freshman, whereupon she was named Ivy League Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year.
Although born in Taiwan, she played for the People's Republic of China until 2007 . She became a US citizen in 2008, but has been competing for Taiwan since the Audi Melbourne Pro Tennis Classic in 2014 .
She mainly plays tournaments on the ITF Women's World Tennis Tour , where she has won six singles and 24 doubles so far. At the Western & Southern Financial Group Women's Open 2007 in Cincinnati , she played for the first time in the main draw of a tournament on the WTA Tour .
She achieved her best world rankings in singles with rank 224 in April 2014 and in doubles with rank 114 in February 2015.
In 2017, Hsu first played for the Taiwan Fed Cup team ; so far she had 8 games (3 wins).
