Christoph Wilhelm Rüdiger von Pirch (born May 4, 1767 in Magdeburg , † May 3, 1846 in Oels ) was a Prussian major general .

origin

He comes from the old Pomeranian noble family Pirch . His parents were the Prussian infantry general Franz Otto von Pirch (1733–1813) and his first honorary wife, Charlotte Friederike von Winckelmann (1740–1781). His older brothers Georg Dubislav Ludwig (1763–1838) and Otto Karl Lorenz (1765–1824) became Prussian lieutenants general, and his other brothers also served as officers in the Prussian army .

Life

Pirch came in 1778 - at the age of eleven - as a free Corporal in the in the garrison at Wesel stationed Infantry Regiment 45th Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel one, served in his father and his brothers. In the same year he and two younger brothers became pages of the king . When the Margrave of Anspach-Bayreuth ceded his two principalities to Prussia in 1791, the regiment that Pirch was with was moved to the garrison town of Bayreuth .

In 1795 Pirch became adjutant general of his then head of the regiment, Major General Karl Philipp von Unruh , and in the same year Pirch was appointed adjutant of the Ansbach-Bayreuth infantry inspection in Bayreuth. In 1800 he was promoted to Premier Lieutenant , in 1803 to Staff Captain and then in 1805 to Staff Captain. In 1805 he was adjutant general to major general Johann Christian von Zweiffel (1745-1817). When Napoleon I threatened Prussia in 1806 , Pirch was given the responsibility of a brigade major in the army corps of Prince von Hohenlohe .

After Prussia's surrender at Prenzlau in 1806, Pirch was taken prisoner of war, but was soon released and first went to Bayreuth. In 1807 he moved with his family to Stargard , where his father was stationed.

In the course of the reconstruction of the Prussian army , Pirch became company commander in 1808 in the Kolberg Infantry Regiment founded in the same year , where he was responsible for replacement matters. When a Prussian gendarmerie corps was due to be founded in October 1812 , he was first appointed interim and in September 1813 then real senior brigadier of the Kurmark gendarmerie. Pirch was promoted to lieutenant colonel in 1814 and finally to colonel in 1818 . In 1820, when the gendarmerie was restructured, he was given the 3rd Brigade. In 1826 he ran the business of the sick chief of the rural gendarmerie von Brauchitsch for a few months. On March 15, 1834, Pirch received major general care.

During his military service, Pirch was awarded the Iron Cross with a White Ribbon in 1816 and the Order of the Red Eagle III in 1828 . Class, for which he was awarded the ribbon in 1833.

family

In 1797 Pirch had married Luise Amalie Anna Viktoria Isabella von Lyncker (born January 25, 1769 - May 14, 1845) a daughter of the princely-Schwarzburg-Sonderhausen privy councilor Heinrich Ferdinand Christian Freiherr von Lynker. The marriage resulted in two sons and three daughters, one of whom, however, one son and two daughters died early. His remaining son, Otto Ferdinand Dubislav von Pirch (1799–1832), who did not survive him, had also embarked on a military career, but also made a name for himself as a travel writer . His daughter Wilhelmine (born January 27, 1798) married Colonel Friedrich Julius Ludwig von Restorff (born May 12, 1783; † October 12, 1848).
