Christopher Alan Boardman (born June 11, 1903 in Norwich , † September 29, 1987 ibid) was a British sailor .

Career

Christopher Boardman, who sailed for the Royal Yacht Squadron among others , took part in the 6-meter class at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin . He was the skipper of the Lalage and won the gold medal with it in the regatta taking place in the Olympic harbor Düsternbrook in Kiel thanks to a one-point lead over the second-placed Norwegians in the Lully II under skipper Magnus Konow with 67 total points. In addition to Boardman, crew members Miles Bellville , Russell Harmer , Charles Leaf and Leonard Martin became Olympic champions . Two years earlier, Boardman was on the crew of the British challenger Endeavor at the America's Cup .

Boardman attended both the Royal Naval College and Trinity College . He then started to work at Colman’s , where he was later appointed to the board. During World War II he served as a Lieutenant of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve on various ships, most recently as commander of HMS Snowdrop , a corvette of the Flower-class , as securing convoys in the Atlantic operated.

His brother Humphrey Boardman took in 1928 at the Olympic rowing regatta in part.
