The Cimitero Flaminio (also known as Cimitero di Prima Porta ) is a cemetery in the suburb of Prima Porta on the outskirts of the Italian capital, Rome . Prima Porta is about 12 kilometers north of the Roman city center. The complex on Via Flaminia was inaugurated in 1941 and, with 140 hectares, is the largest burial site in the country. The design goes back to the architect Elena Luzzatto. A total of 37 kilometers of streets and paths lead through the Cimitero Flaminio. The cemetery has sections of different religions (e.g. Roman Catholic , Protestant , Jewish , Orthodox or Islamic ). Near the crematorium of the Cimitero Flaminio is Il Giardino dei Ricordi ( German  The Garden of Remembrance ). The ashes of the deceased can be scattered on the three hectare site.
