Career
Corey Millen began his professional career in 1982 at the University of Minnesota . In the same year, the right-firing attacker was drafted 57th by the New York Rangers in the 1982 NHL Entry Draft . He played four years in the university team, interrupted by a year in the US Olympic selection, with which he also took part in the Olympic Games in Sarajevo . 1987/88 he played another year exclusively for the national team of the USA and came to his second use at the Olympics .
After that, he moved to Europe for the first time and played one season for the Swiss national league club HC Ambrì-Piotta . At the Ice Hockey World Championship in 1989 he again represented his country, but was tested positive for non-anabolic testosterone after two preliminary round games and was excluded from the tournament. At the 1984 Olympics , he had already tested positive for testosterone. At the time, it was discovered by doctors that his body was producing too much natural testosterone. The IIHF no longer applied this declaration in 1989 and banned him for 18 months. For the 1989/90 season he moved back to North America and signed a contract with the New York Rangers. Until 1997 he played in the NHL for the Rangers, the Los Angeles Kings , the New Jersey Devils , the Dallas Stars and the Calgary Flames . He celebrated his greatest success in 1992/93 when he reached the Stanley Cup finals with the Kings , where, however, they were defeated by the Montréal Canadiens in five games.
In 1997, Millen moved across the Atlantic a second time , this time to Germany, where he played in the DEL for the Kölner Haie . In the five years that he was active on the Rhine, he was once German champion ( 2001/02 ) and once runner-up ( 1999/2000 ) with the Haien . In the following two years he played again at short notice at HC Lugano and EHC Visp in the first and second Swiss leagues, respectively, before ending his career in 2004.
